Essentials: Travel Toiletries

It’s that time of the year again, summer holidays! Pete and I are jetting off to Paris for the remainder of the week. Well, not literally as we’ll be taking the Eurostar this time.

One of the things I enjoy the most is planning for trips and I’ve got to say, there’s something about going to the drugstore and buying all the essentials for your upcoming holiday… you know, the anticipation!

Here’s what’s in my travel bag…

I’m a sucker for travel sized products. They’re so practical especially when you have to pack light and don’t want to carry full-sized bottles around. Superdrug has the most extensive cruelty-free and vegan range, where all products are clearly labelled and are generally cheaper than the regular brands. Make sure you read the labels and check what’s suitable for vegans though! Even though they don’t use organic ingredients, the overall quality of the products is above average for a drugstore brand.

Though when my favourite hair products aren’t available on travel size, I transfer them to little pump bottles so you can carry them safely on a flight or travel washbag. Bobby pins and hair ties are a must, especially during summer. Just store them in a little box so they don’t get lost.

One thing you don’t want to carry with you either is full sized skincare products, which are usually chunky pots of cream or tall bottles of cleansing water. I usually start planning for this well ahead of travelling, Doomsday Prepper style obviously.
Throughout the year there are always sample size giveaways, I store them until our holidays so I don’t have to carry big sized bottles when the time comes. If you can’t find any samples, just squeeze tiny portions onto little travel bottles instead. There are specific tins for cream and even tiny spray bottles.

I also prefer taking mini plastic perfume bottles instead of the glass ones. I absolutely love Sephora’s scented sprays. I used to have a few but they’re coming to an end now. It’s too bad we don’t have them in the UK, I’ll make sure to buy more in France.

What’s in my bag:

Superdrug Strawberry & Raspberry Shower Gel 75ml, £1.05
Supedrug Whitening Toothpaste 25ml, £1.05
Superdrug Pump Bottle 100ml, £1.59
Preserve Toothbrush, £3.19

Superdrug Anti-perspirant 24h Deodorant Crystal 50ml, £0.99

I still haven’t figured out any solution for make up products though, I always narrow down the quantity but that’s about it!
Feel free to chip in if you have any tips and tricks.

  1. I’ve been looking for cruelty free toothpaste and I had no idea it was right under my nose at Superdrug. Definitely going to pick up a tube of this for my Paris holiday! (And some of those Sephora sprays!)

    Thanks for a great post! 🙂 <3

    1. Superdrug is a mecca for vegan products! They also have a Procare range in full size which is what I use on a daily basis. 🙂

      You’re welcome!
