Hairstyle Make Over: Fall/Winter Edition

If this was a confessionary I’d probably had to confess that I do suffer from pre-hair salon tension, as some of you do too. That’s probably the main reason why I only go to the hair salon for a cut about 2 times a year, and will never risk to do any major change. Hummm and hair colouring, well, I usually do it at home every now and then, with some cheap hair dye bought at the drug store. It’s on a never-ending quest to achieve a great hair colour, but instead I get damaged poodle hair with a shiny new colour that only lasts around 2 weeks. I know, I’m not the best example of hair care but I’m willing to change my ways.

Thankfully last week I got a promotional email from Goodlife! which offered a brutal discount on a hairstyle make over at a Day Spa in Lisbon, that included highlights, a keratin hair mask, washing, brushing and styling. All for a bargain, 35€ instead of 181€!

My anxiety was lowered since I’ve already talked to the hairdresser yesterday – which is a hella-funny brazilian gay guy by the way -, and both decided what I should go for. I’m opting for the californian highlighting technique, not in the typical blonde, but toning down my natural brown color into an auburn light brown. Californian highlights are very similar to balayage – or your frosting tip application- only instead of painting it in with a frosting tip you would pick your piece twist, like you were nervous and apply colour to the twisted piece. You’ll get a more natural look this way, like that sun kissed hair look from the beach.

Also I’m head over heels in love with long hair, I have never had my hair this long and I’m planning on continuing growing it, though I will probably have to trim it down a bit. At least I might say goodbye to my split-ends and hello to shiny healthier looking hair!

Here are some inspirational images, I gotta say I am really loving this rich auburn brown! What do you think?

What can you say, I absolutely love brown hair, thankfully I was born a brunette and I guess I will always stay this way.
So yes, if you’ve got it, flaunt it girls!
