DIY Lemon Sugar Scrub For Glowing Skin

DIY lemon sugar scrub

Lemons are my favourite thing in the world. Well, maybe that’s a big statement – but they surely lie at the top of the list of my favourite ingredients for sure. Lemon has amazing qualities and when used on skin it works as a mild astringent and clarifier. When lemon juice is combined with sugar, it becomes a powerful exfoliant, too.

Here’s how to get gorgeous looking skin with this easy lemon trick…

DIY Lemon Sugar Scrub
This DIY lemon sugar scrub is like an all-natural facial peel but cheaper.

When massaged on to the skin, the sugar granules remove the dead skin layer making your skin feel softer and smooth. Whilst doing this the lemon juice will penetrate the skin, helping with brightness and with age spots, freckles and uneven skin tone, reversing sun damage. It also helps with reducing redness and fading out acne scars.
The smell is nothing short of amazing too: and don’t worry too much if you get it accidentally on your lips – it takes like fresh lemonade!

  1. Soak a cotton pad in freshly squeezed organic lemon juice
  2. Top the cotton pad with a pinch of granulated sugar
  3. Rub the wet cotton pad onto your skin in circular movements
  4. Leave the lemon juice on between 5 to 10 minutes, until it gets a sticky texture
  5. Rinse well with warm water
  6. Finish with a generous layer of your usual moisturiser

This is great for normal to oily skin. I don’t recommend using lemon juice on very dry skin as it might sting. If you have sensitive skin, mix 1 part of water or coconut water with 1 part of fresh lemon juice, for extra hydration.

Remember to avoid the lip and eye area.

Do it twice a week, or every other day if your skin feels comfortable.

Let me know if you try this DIY scrub. I’d love to know how you get on with it!

  1. Oh, this looks gorgeous! I am always trying out new scrubs that come already made in a tube but they are so expensive – this looks great! 🙂 x
