A Serious Case Of Wanderlust

A serious case of wanderlust - Places to visit in 2015

January is by far the dullest month of the year. There’s not much going on, especially after the hype of the holidays. It’s awfully cold and grim, the temperature won’t go higher than 4ºC this week. At least we could get some freaking snow for crying out loud, but I don’t think that’s happening anytime soon for us Londoners. January has got us miserably waking up everyday to pitch black skies and getting out of work when it’s dark again. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll get some sunshine on your pale skin during lunchtime, if you’re not surrounded by skyscrapers that is, while hoping your fingers don’t freeze and fall off.

While I’m trying to stay busy indoors, I can’t help but get a serious case of wanderlust. Don’t you feel the same way? I wonder why we’re constantly being bombarded with summery holiday ads on tv, it’s like a punch in the stomach. Evil marketeers. Of course we all feel tempted to head south and have the time of our lives. Whatever those guys are doing, they’re doing it right because all is want to do is pack up and go on holidays.

Well, we’ve got some time off in early February to visit family and friends back in our hometown in Portugal. And we’re also taking the remainder of that week to head south to the Algarve, with a pit stop halfway in Lisbon. It’s going to be great to relax for a few days, enjoying the hotel spa, go on adventures and simply be together.

We’re also planning on visiting Canada and New York City in late summer, and I just can’t wait! We’ve never been to either Toronto or NYC and we’ve got a few friends on the other side of the pond to hang out with. Another place that I’d like to visit is Iceland, so maybe a long weekend in Reykjavik might also be in the works.

Do you have any plans for your holidays this year? If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

  1. Janeiro é, sem dúvida, o mês mais chato! Eu tenho fugido para o ginásio de tanto frio que tenho parada em casa. também adorava visitar tanto os Estados Unidos como o Canadá 🙂

  2. I always have a serious case of wanderlust. I don’t think I’ll be able to live at the same place for too long. After not leaving the country for two months I feel like I’m a little trapped ha. I’m going to Spain next week for a couple days. Don’t have any definite plans yet for the rest of the year but I’m dying to visit Portugal as well. And #1 country to visit still is Australia. But honestly? I want to see the world haha! xx

    1. I definitely can relate Naomi. That’s why I moved to London and became an expat in first place. This city has SO much to offer and such great flight connections. Where are you from?

Hope you have a great time in Spain, and next time make sure to visit Portugal, it’s gorgeous 🙂 x
